Glass Cloud: The Royal Thousand

Hampton, Virgina's Glass Cloud (consisting of members from Of Mice & Men, The Tony Danza Tap Dance Extravaganza) have released their LP and now a live music video of their single "Ivy & Wine" (as well as brand new music video "If He Dies, He Dies"), which you can check out below:

Glass Cloud released their debut LP "The Royal Thousand" on July 3rd, 2012 via Equal Vision Records:

1. White Flag
2. If He Dies, He Dies
3. Falling In Style
4. Ivy & Wine
5. Prelude For A Ghost
6. All Along
7. She Is Well And Nothing Can Be Ill
8. Counting Sheep
9. Memorandum
10. From May To Now

"This album is a clear standout in 2012. The month of July already has so many awesome releases to explore (Periphery, Exotic Animal Petting Zoo, The Contortionist), and Glass Cloud easily goes toe to toe with their "competition". The only reason why I have that word in quotations is because that while yes they are competing for fans and sales, there is still no other sound that can compare to what Glass Cloud has given to the world of music. It will be awesome to see how this group grows over the course of this year, and if more releases are in their future, you can bet I'll be one of the first to start jamming their tunes in my jeep." -Ultimate Guitar

"The songs themselves are mostly composed in a very standard intro-verse-chorus-verse-bridge fashion, with some tracks changing it up and showing quite a bit of progression. ‘Memorandum‘ opens with bassist Travis Sykes and drummer Chad Hasty grooving along for a bit, adding on layers of guitars as it goes on until it opens into an all out assault on your ears. I do wish more of the songs experimented more with song structure, but once again, Josh’s guitar playing is enough to keep even the same old structure formula interesting from beginning to end.

If you were looking for the next TTDTE album, look elsewhere because Glass Cloud is a beast of its own. While the sometimes lacking vocals do drag this otherwise stellar album down at points, it was never enough to turn me away from listening over and over. I look forward to what Josh Travis and the rest of the band have in store for us on future releases, especially with the fate of Danza in such a state of limbo." -Heavy Blog Is Heavy

"Metalcore may be a generic genre of music, but as previously stated, it is all a matter of consistency. The Royal Thousand will hold your attention, and that is due to talent, creativity, and enthusiastic songwriting. Glass Cloud hardly breaks the traditional metalcore mold, and if this album proves anything, it's that you don't necessarily have to. The Royal Thousand is sure to be slept on, perhaps even ignored. Although, upon listening, you just might surprise yourself with how fast you will find that replay button." -Sputnik Music

Glass Cloud is:
