Lo-Pro - The Disintegration Effect is Soulless

OK so what the hell happened here?  After hearing of Tommy Stewart's departure from Godsmack, I was curious as to where he would end up.  Long story short, I found out about Lo-Pro.  A decent hard rock band with some good grooves and of course some great drumming from Stewart.  Not a game changer whatsoever but one of those albums you could throw on in your place while doing chores or something productive.

First single I heard from the guys was "Sunday":

So you get the gist of the band and what style of music they were coming out with.  This continued not only throughout the self titled album, but also into their sophomore album "The Beautiful Sounds of Revenge" and even their 2011 EP "Bittersweet".  Not the forefront of bands I HAD to listen to, but good tunes nonetheless to add to the mp3 player.

So being off the radar for sometime, I was uber surprised to hear the new single and album that awaits the group.  Released on Tuesday, May 14th, 2013, it did not make the major headlines that others did on your typical release date.  Three of the members in Lo-Pro were previously in an industrial nu-metal group called Ultraspank.  A decent group with a good following.  Many fans were wondering when a new album might surface (after their breakup in 2001).  Well, it seems that Murray, Godfrey and Oliveria (along with Ricci and Stewart) did a little bit of both when composing their new album "Disintegration Effect".

1. Give Me Life
2. Wasteland
3. We Are the Ones
4. Bow Down
5. Sheer Electronic
6. Soulless
7. Obedience
8. Dig In
9. Battle Song
10. Farewell

Check out the album and spot the major differences in sound.  "The Disintegration Effect" was officially released on May 14th, 2013.

"On their third album, the first thing longtime Lo-Pro fans are going to ask is this: “Who is this band?” Long time Ultraspank fans, however, will be asking: “Where has this band been?” The aggression is back mixed with the strong songwriting and melody throughout the bands’ previous two releases making Disintegration Effect something more than Ultraspank 2.0." -Pop Blerd

As you can clearly hear there has been a big change in sound when defining Lo-Pro.  For good or for worse, I leave that up to you.  Anyone got some thoughts on the 'new sound'?
