Broken Crown Halo has got to be one of the most anticipated and hyped albums of their career, and from the sounds of the album it doesn't look like it's going to disappoint anyone. If you have been a fan in the past of LC's work such as "Comalies" or "Karmacode" then this will surely catch your attention and having you run to your local record shop to pick up a copy. Much like the other bands I listen to, these guys have a formula that works and they stick to it. No need to veer away from that core sound that got them their record deal in the first place. The time has come where bands from every genre (and new sub-genres) have their distinct sound so why try and inject some fresh ideas into the mold? Not to be confused with progression as a band. That needs to happen organically and subtle differences will vary from album to album.
I think when it comes to organic progression, I want to use Cristiano 'CriZ' Mozzati's departure from the group as an example. After sixteen years serving as their drummer, Mozzati decided to call it a day and move on from Lacuna Coil. Now obviously the band will need to find a replacement which could in the end alter their sound as a whole. While main members still have control over the overall album production, subtle nuances will organically progress the group to (possibly) new boundaries and new song structures. So in light of that, check out the entire "Broken Crown Halo" album below and see what you think of it.
Lacuna Coil have released a few singles such as "Nothing Stands In Our Way" and "Die & Rise" to give fans a taste of what is to come. I was impressed thus far. They didn't reinvent the wheel nor did they fall of the wagon all together. They simply keep the status quo and deliver good music to the 1,000,000+ fans they have (or so social media will say).
