Spam Overload of Social Media Sites...

As much as I am all for news bands to be discovered and for labels to expand their rosters, I think Century Media Records nailed it right on the head when they made a small comment in regards to bands submitting demos.  I encourage all bands following this site to take notice and to take this into consideration when submitting material.  When you're a new band starting out and feel that you are better/different than the 50,000+ bands dropping new material, nobody wants to be spammed up the ying yang on all possible sites.  There is limited room (currently) on most rosters and spamming a social network site everyday with a "hey, check out my band, listen to the music and come to our shows/sign us" isn't the way to get good recognition. But CM still wants to keep it on a positive note and not discourage people from submitting EPK in a formal way via online (follow link below).

"To ALL unsigned bands: posting a link to your music on our timeline or sending a message here on Facebook with your music will NOT get your music heard. Keep this in mind when submitting your music to other labels, too.

We wish we had the time to sift through everything here and find some of you truly deserving gems. That said, please check out our Demo Submission info on the site here.

Keep up the hard work and don't let 'haters' get in the way of your goals!"  -Century Media
