Holy Shows Batman! (October 12-14th, 2012)

So as it be, we have a ton of shows coming  to Toronto this weekend.  Being that were in the big city, I'm sure there is a little something for everyone here.  From metal to stoner rock.  Jazz to punk, the city has got you covered.  So hopefully you're in and around the downtown area (where most of the fun generally happens for bigger name shows).  Side note, did anyone know it's Toronto Indie Music weekend?!  Here is what AFGM is recommending you check out this weekend:

FRIDAY, OCTOBER 12TH, 2012

Hard Luck Bar - Modern Day Escape & Affiance w/ guests

Great up and coming metal, so be sure to check em out!  Tickets available here

***

@ Nawlins Jazz Bar - Nawlins All Star Band

Playing all night, no cover (from what I remember).  I saw these guys one evening while sipping on some martinis and boy are they just awesome!  Great sound for such a small venue.  A little loud, but then again, I'm used to metal shows :-\

***

@ Massey Hall - The Doobie Brothers

No need to explain (haha).  Tickets available here

***
@ Lee's Palace - Canadian punk rock legends DOA

Final tour for the die hard punk rockers!  Tickets available here

***

Hughs Room - Ron Hynes Benefit featuring:

Ron Sexsmith, Ashley MacIsaac, Sylvia Tyson and more!

"Ron Hynes is the Man of a Thousand Songs, and a hero to many artists in the Canadian Music industry. Ron is about to wage the fight of his life, as he embarks on an aggressive treatment for throat cancer. A series of benefits are to be staged to raise funds to support Ron during this time as he battles the disease and recovers. In addition to concerts in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Halifax, Nova Scotia, Hugh’s Room will be hosting benefits on October 12th and 13th."

Reservation requests available here

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 13TH, 2012

@ The Horseshoe Tavern - The Mahones w/ Magneta Lane, The Suburbians and more!

Not only have I seen these guys a few times, but I also had the chance to book them when I was part of my college student council.  These guys always have a great time playing, catchy tunes and very approachable.  They're always down for a drink and a photo at the bar!

Tickets available at the door.

The Phoenix Nightclub - Lagwagon

Another great, high energy punk band to rock your socks off to.  Make sure to grab them ticket cause chances are it'll be a sold out show!  Tickets available here.

SUNDAY, OCTOBER 14TH, 2012

@ The Air Canada Centre - RUSH

I may be biased because I love these guys so much, but if you don't know who they are then you best be going for a Canadian music history lesson.  Tickets available here (good luck!)

***

@ The Sound Academy - Ellie Goulding

Not much to say about this chick (only cause I haven't really gotten into her yet).  From what I have heard through friends and family, she has got quite the vocal range on her.  Definitely worth checking out online at the least.  Tickets available here.

Now there are a shit ton more shows happening around the city (including the Toronto Indie Music weekend like I mentioned before), so if none of these shows are doing it for you and looking for something else then feel free to hit up the live music listings from Now Magazine, Ticketmaster, etc.  Have a great weekend everyone and as always, keep the conversation of music going!
