So What Is Everyone Doing This Weekend?

Well first and foremost, our friends at Inertia Entertainment have a great show tonight at The Opera House.  Enslaved is going to be bring the Norwegian metal scene to Toronto to rock out!  The night will feature support from Junius, Alcest and Empyrean Plague.

(Enslaved - The Watcher)

Tickets will also be available at the door tonight.  Check out my previous blog entry for more info on these guys.

AND if that wasn't enough for you fellow rockers, we got Periphery headlining the Frak The Gods Tour, with support from The Human Abstract, Textures, The Contortionist and Intervals on Sunday, October 2nd at The Annex Wreckroom.

(Periphery - Icarus Lives)

Tickets are limited now since the show has gotten a huge response (not to mention the size of the venue).  But you can grab tickets still from here.  No guarantee of tickets at the door so buy now while you still have the chance.  Check out my previous blog entry for info on Textures (whom I cannot get enough of!).

Black Water Rising - No Halos

Black Water Rising (hailing from Brooklyn, NY) have released their latest music video (aka No Halos) from their self titled LP.  No halos was released on September 18th via Capital Productions.

(Black Water Rising's self titled album was released March 2, 2010 via Red Distribution)

BWR describe themselves (via Facebook) as such:

"Black Water Rising is a collection of soul baring, angst ridden, riff heavy material that is proudly anchored in the foundations of traditional Hard Rock song writing. Giant guitar driven monster riffs served up on a bed of crushing grooves with soaring melodic vocals and big hooks. Basically, NO FRILLS RIFF ROCK! Lyrically the message is socially and politically driven by the dark times we live in. With darkness seemingly growing by the day, Black Water Rising is a name that fits this band like a glove. The philosophy of BWR is simple, they are not looking to reinvent the wheel, they just want to give it a much needed alignment in these musically stale times."

Drummer Mike Meselsohn had the following comment about the new music video:

"We are so proud and psyched to show our new video to the world. We jumped at the opportunity to work with Noah again and he didn't disappoint. He came up with an awesome concept that really captures the vibe of the song and is visually captivating at the same time."

BWR is:

Rob Traynor - Vocals/Guitars | Mike Meselsohn - Drums | Oddie Mclaughlin - Bass

No touring information available as of right now, but I'm sure with another music video means more touring along the way.  Keep checking back for updates!

Like Moths To Flames: When We Don't Exist

The five piece young guns from Columbus, Ohio have inked a deal with Nuclear Blast Records for European distribution (and Rise Records in North America).  Lead vocalist, Chris Roetter, commented on the latest ink deal:

Their history of signing incredibly heavy bands combined with some of their more recent signings excites us greatly. We cannot wait to come over to Europe in support of the album, and are thankful to have a label there who will ensure our music is heard!"

The Ace of Grapes

Wanna know where the hardest wine on the market is?  Well head over to GreatWineOnline and check out Motorhead's official Shiraz.  Made from the Australian grapes, this bottle has already sold over 130,000 units in Scandinavia alone, not to mention countless other countries across the globe.

The wine is described online as, "The wine has a very fruity aroma with flavours of vanilla, blackberries, plums, eucalyptus and liquorice. It is full-bodied with soft rounded tannins and packs a real punch.
Enjoy Motörhead Shiraz with dishes like grilled lamb chops with garlic and rosemary. Also goes well with other lamb or beef dishes, as well as pasta and flavoursome cheeses. Serve a little below room temperature, around 16 - 18°C." -Motorheadwine.com

Motorhead have launched their own site for their wine selection alone (as well as links to various social network sites).  I'm guessing other styles of wine will become available shortly.

Shut the F**K Up and Get Up!

Korn has been working hard, as of late, on their new concept album titled "The Path of Totality".  The dub-step focused LP will be released on December 6th, 2011 via Roadrunner Records.

The album will come in two different packages:

- Standard version: 11-song CD with artwork

- Special edition: 11-song CD that will include bonus tracks as well as a DVD of "The Encounter"

("The Encounter" is a full-length video concert of Korn's performance in the middle of a 900-foot-long crop circle in a wheat field in Bakersfield, CA)

“The title 'The Path of Totality' refers to the fact that in order to see the sun in a full solar eclipse, you must be in the exact right place in the exact right time.  That’s how this album came together. I think all the producers feel the same way. I’m not sure it could ever happen again.” -Jonathan Davis

Only the first single has really made any waves in the music industry, as the world waits patiently for the rest of the tracks to surface via Youtube or any other social media outlet.  So far, "Get Up" has been the talk of the town and the Korn community.  Both a lyric video and a music video are available (below) for the first single of the album:

(Get Up - Lyric Video)

(Get Up - Music Video)

Korn has also announced that in light of this dub-step concept, they will be hitting the road with fellow dub-step acts such as Datsik, Downlink and Dope D.O.D.:

11/04 New York, NY – Roseland Ballroom

11/16 Tulsa, OK – Brady Theater
11/18 San Antonio, TX – Sunken Garden Amphitheater
11/19 Houston, TX – Verizon Wireless Theater

Rise To Remain's LP Pushed Back To January, 2012

The London 5 piece band have unfortunately had their debut album, "City of Vultures", puched back until a January 24, 2012 release via Century Media Records.  Even before the release of their debut record, the band has made quite the mark in the music scene.  They have been named both the "Best New Band" at the Metal Hammer Golden Gods Awards and the "Best British Newcomer" at the Kerrang! Awards.

"I hope a lot of people will respect this record, especially coming from a really young band, because there's a lot that's outside the usual metalcore cliche thinking box." - Austin Dickinson, vocals.

"City of Vultures" was produced by legendary Colin Richardson (SLIPKNOT, AS I LAY DYING), quoting the new album as "an explosive, assured and extraordinarily diverse first offering that marks Rise To Remain as an extremely talented standard bearer for a new generation of metal bands."

There is no unfamiliar waters as well when it comes to touring.  The band has shared the stage with many notable acts such as Bullet For My Valentine, Bring Me The Horizon and of course Iron maiden (for those unaware, lead vocalist Austin Dickinson is the son of Iron Maiden's Bruce Dickinson).  Be sure to snag a copy of the album when it drops in January, I know I will be.

B-sides and Hail Mary

Did anyone else get the memo that Dark New Day has new material available?!  For those of you unaware, DND was a side project of members from Skrape, doubleDrive, Sevendust and Stereomud.

They completed their debut album (Twelve Year Silence) and pretty much fell off the face of the earth, due to other music endeavors.  Anyways, the long and short of it (TWSS), Dark New Day have resurrected somehow and released a "B-Sides" compilation album, as well as a new LP titled "Hail Mary".  Click on the links to purchase a copy of the album.

So I did some searching and managed to find a few songs from the "B-Sides" album.  Check em out, if you haven't already, and see what you think.  I personally love this project and thought they had great potential.  They just need to release albums more than every 5+ years.

Birthdays In Music!

Randy Bachman (The Guess Who)

Stephan Jenkins (Third Eye Blind)

Greg Ham (Men At Work

Brad Arnold (Three Doors Down)

Enslaved @ The Opera House

Now I am not a huge fan of the black metal/extreme metal scene or whatever you choose to call it, but being that Noel and Inertia Entertainment always book the best bands in town (and usually the best venues), I decided to plug their next upcoming show.  Norway's Enslaved will be hitting up Toronto on Friday (Sept 30th) at The Opera House where the black clothing and viking beards will be in great numbers!  These guys will be supported by:

- Alcest

Tickets are always reasonable for Inertia shows so make sure to pick one up through either Rotate This or Ticketmaster outlets.  For more info, click on Inertia Entertainment's website (found in the music links sidebar).

Animals & The Dark Side of the Moon

So a photo emerged in the internet world yesterday and thought it was quite nostalgic and cool of them to do so.  A recreation of Pink Floyd's Animals LP cover was taken above the Battersea Power Station, South London as a tribute to the remastering and release of numerous classic Pink Floyd albums.

Pink Floyd have released the Immersion box set of "Dark Side of The Moon" today, you can pick up a cop of the box set here.

The Discovery box set is also on sale starting today, and can be found here.  Other remastered LP's will be released in the coming months.  For a list of these LP's, visit here.
