Veil of Maya - Phoenix/Matriarch

While I am sure most of you are not waking up to the pounding of drums and bass in the morning, there are those times after your morning coffee when you want something to give you that "umph" for your work day.  I'm not here to judge.

I am only here to provide your ears with some over the top distortion and some new material from a very talented band such as Veil of Maya.  Having the opportunity to catch these guys on tour a few times, I am very impressed with their stage presence, their musical timing, their sound, and the fun they seem to have interacting with their fans.  So IF you happen to be that wants some metal in your ears this morning (or night depending on where in the world you are reading this), then be sure to check out VoM's new single "Phoenix".

The track will be featured on the upcoming LP.  More details are to be released in the coming weeks so be sure to follow them on their social media, or to check back with AFGM here with any updates.  If you are in the States, be sure to check them out on tour with Upon A Burning Body, Volumes, Gideon, and The Last Ten Seconds.  Cheers!

*UPDATE*
(as of March 23rd, 2015)

While you all might be wondering what Veil of Maya has been up to between the time this article was originally posted and now, here is a first glimpse of a new video called "Breaking Bands".  It was quite the funny little skit and track off the heels of AMC's Breaking Bad.

According to their official website, pre-orders for the new album are set to be launched today as well.  So all you VoM fans be sure to click on the hyperlink and pre-order a copy for yourself.  Like past VoM releases, I am already excited and expecting great things!

*UPDATE*
(as of March 24th, 2015)

The album artwork and title have finally been revealed.  Shortly after their 3 minute "Breaking Bands" clip was released, VoM revealed a fair amount of information, including a new music video!  Check out "Mikasa" below:

So May 12th, 2015 is the date set for the release of "Matriarch"; the band's fifth studio album installment (via Sumerian Records).  This will also be the first album to feature new vocalist Lukas Magyar (formerly of Arms of Empire).  I have to say thus far I am very impressed with the range.  The new dynamic of clear melody and clean vocals does seem to water down the original core sound of VoM, but Okubo, Applebaum, and Hauser do a great job of keeping it all together to make it sound like VoM 2.0.  Below is the album artwork for "Matriarch".

More information to be posted as it comes in.  Stay tuned folks!
