Emigrate - Silent So Long

So I caught wind that Emigrate would be looking to release a new album.  While most of you may not have exposed to this band before, I am sure you are all familiar with Richard Z. Kruspe and his guitar work with Rammstein.  Being that Richard does a fair amount of the writing for Rammstein tracks, you can assume that he has a fair amount of material he has been composing on his own for solo releases.  This is where Emigrate comes in to play.

"hello friends,

after almost a year of hard work, i arrived in the sunny world of california with 20 tracks of new emigrate material.  i decided to escape the gray skies of berlin to put some sunlight in my soul.  so here i am in hollywood mixing the next emigrate record with ben grosse.  i must say that i am quite excited about the results.  for me it was important to reach a new level of songwriting, singing and production, and i can honestly say, we made it.  so i am gonna stay here in los angeles for another 6 weeks to mix the album, then i think we can lock in a summer release.  so stay with me and i'll keep you updated.

best wishes, richard" -Emigrate

"In the new world, I'm lost in you
I'm lost in crowds, I fight for you
And say out loud, It's a new world!"

While Richard calls Germany his home, the Emigrate project was founded in New York City and as you can see from the music video above, the album consists of experiences and influences of the 'Big Apple'.  You can clearly hear similar riffs and tone that he uses in Rammstein, but the vocals (as well as the structure the odd time throughout the album) make it a whole different beast.  This strips Emigrate down a bit to make them a bit more radio friendly between singing vocals and English lyrics.

Upon listening to Emigrate's self-titled debut, this doesn't necessarily prove to the case, as it's an album that is not far removed at all from the group's signature sound. Case in point, the chug-chugging riff roller coaster 'My World,' as well as 'Resolution.'" -All Music

So for those who are not familiar with Emigrate, here is some quick info regarding the debut release from Emigrate (*please note that Henka Johansson was the drummer for Emigrate's debut record release).

Emigrate currently consists of:

Richard Z. Kruspe - Lead vocals, Lead guitar | Olsen Involtini - Rhythm guitar
Arnaud Giroux - Bass guitar | Joe Letz - Drums | Mikko Sirén - Drums

1. Emigrate
2. Wake Up
3. My World
4. Let Me Break
5. In My Tears
6. Babe
7. New York City
8. Resolution
9. Temptation
10. This Is What
11. You Can't Get Enough
12. Blood (Limited edition bonus track)
13. Help Me (Limited edition bonus track)

The self-titled album was released on January 29th, 2008 via Motor Music (originally released in Europe on August 31st, 2007).  The album was produced in collaboration by Richard Z. Kruspe, Olsen Involtini and Arnaud Giroux, and producer Jacob Hellner.  For those who might remember that name, Hellner had previously worked with Rammstein.  No coincidence there!

"There's a lot of variety, with driving industrial metal, mid-tempo mainstream rock and slower and more experimental tracks. Being a guitarist, Kruspe makes the riffs the focus of the songs, which is a wise move." -About.com

So now onto that new album I was mentioned earlier.  Not much is known about the upcoming Emigrate album, and with good reason.  You have to be very pragmatic about how to promote an album depending on your reach, audience, and popularity.  Emigrate is smart to hold onto most of the cards in their deck and slowly release information as the release date becomes closer and closer.  I know for myself, this 51 second snippet got me on my toes and scouring the net for more information...

So from what we have gathered on Amazon (GER) and practically every other Emigrate related site, the Emigrate album is going to be titled "Silent So Long".  Europe is looking at an November 14th, 2014 release date and will be distributed through Vertigo Berlin (Universal Music).  North America will have to wait until December 9th, 2014 to get their hands on the album. The album artwork does not look finalized, but at least it's something to run with.  It's also got quite the amount of guests featured on the album; four to be exact.  But with vocal guests like Lemmy Kilmister (Motorhead) and Jonathan Davis (Korn), I can anticipate great things from the sophomore release!

1. Eat You Alive (featuring Frank Dellé)
2. Get Down (featuring Peaches)
3. Rock City (featuring Lemmy Kilmister)
4. Hypothetical (featuring Marilyn Manson)
5. Rainbow
6. Born On My Own
7. Giving Up
8. My Pleasure
9. Happy Times
10. Faust
11. Silent So Long (featuring Jonathan Davis)

So that's all the information for now.  Stay tuned and I am sure more material and information will be surfacing soon!  Now is it too much to ask for a Toronto release party?!  AFGM will gladly show up for photos and promotion!
