Full Album Stream: From Ashes To New - Downfall [EP]

So one of the newest sections I created was "Full Album Streams".  Not only did this gave folks something to listen to when they are cruising the site (being that the original intention of this site was to acts as a hub to explore), but also a chance for people to explore new artists, new genres, and new albums before deciding to purchase them (also from links on AFGM's site).

Full album streams seem to be a new fad that a lot of internet savvy people are jumping on.  It can be in the form of a Soundcloud widget, a YouTube playlist, or even a single YouTube video.  This often gives record labels a chance to promote new artists and for people to subscribe to their social media pages.  So hopefully this provides you access to some new music, bands, and/or artists.  Cheers!

PS - Feel free to send us an email if you have any albums you think you should be on this list or a new one coming out we missed.  We're always listening!

From Ashes to New is a six piece rap-rock/alternative metal band that formed in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.

"From Ashes to New's message in all of their songs is that positive inspiration can be derived from all negativity no matter how harrowing life's obstacles may feel. In a genre where it feels negativity and despair seem to be in the forefront of most modern hard rock acts these days, From Ashes to New shines as one of few that stand out in that respect. With uplifting lyrics in the vein of self betterment, From Ashes to New looks to capture the attention of listeners from all walks of music." -FATN

Their latest EP, "Downfall", was released on March 10th, 2015 via Better Noise Records.

1. Downfall
2. Lost and Alone
3. Land of Make Believe
4. Through It All

This EP is relentless from beginning to end, as they’d say “all killer, no filler”. The second track, “Lost and Alone” is the first to feature more than just background screams, adding a new level of aggression to this already incredible band. From the beginning of the track, though, you’ll never see it coming… it starts off on a slightly softer note with Musser singing throughout the majority of the song. Then a breakdown floors you, seeing both Musser and Kreider trading off screams (Kreider being the higher scream, Musser being the lower). Lyrically, this is a track about feeling alone in the world. That unrelenting, hopeless feeling that we’ve all had when we’ve been in our darkest days. While you hear little to none of Brandyberry’s vocals on this one, his keyboard is still very prominent on this track. This is definitely one of my favorites because of my emotional connection with it. -New Transcendence
