Full Album Stream: Wilson - Right To Rise

So one of the newest sections I created was "Full Album Streams".  Not only did this gave folks something to listen to when they are cruising the site (being that the original intention of this site was to acts as a hub to explore), but also a chance for people to explore new artists, new genres, and new albums before deciding to purchase them (also from links on AFGM's site).

Full album streams seem to be a new fad that a lot of internet savvy people are jumping on.  It can be in the form of a Soundcloud widget, a YouTube playlist, or even a single YouTube video.  This often gives record labels a chance to promote new artists and for people to subscribe to their social media pages.  So hopefully this provides you access to some new music, bands, and/or artists.  Cheers!

PS - Feel free to send us an email if you have any albums you think you should be on this list or a new one coming out we missed.  We're always listening!

Hailing from the rocking city of Detroit, Wilson has exploded on the scene shortly following their debut release titled "Full Blast Fuckery" in 2013.  Since then, the group has toured countless times with many notable artists, and have been remembered for their high energy concerts and interactions with their fanbase.  You can catch them on tour in late 2015 with Crobot, Mothership, and Heavy MTL for all your Canadian fans.

“The record is the story of anyone who is struggling in general, and what they have to do in order to get by.  The title says that we all have the right to find our happiness and grow. You can take our city as an example. You look at it from the outside, hear all of these horror stories, and see so many terrible things. However, when you’re inside, you can see the triumph. You need to make your own way here. No one will respect you otherwise.” -Chad Nicefield

"Right To Rise" was released on June 29th, 2015 via Razor & Tie Records.   This marks the first time the entire band has been incorporated into the writing process.  The album was produced by Johnny Andrews, who has worked with artists such as Halestorm, Three Days Grace, and Sick Puppies.

With the songwriting style and lyrical subject matter, Wilson certainly showcase a great degree of pride in their Detroit roots, and their attitude undoubtedly rubs off on the listener. For that reason, Wilson look poised to add to the crop of successful ‘blue-collar rock’ bands going around at present. Fans of the likes of AC/DC, Steel Panther, Motörhead and Crobot would find instant appreciation in what Wilson stands for. This kind of music has been made by several bands for decades, and there is no reinvention of the wheel here, but as is evident from this album, Wilson clearly excel at playing the music they know and love best. -Metal Assault

But to my surprise it was energetic hardrock that reached my ears. And it was good stuff too. I was actually reminded to bands like The Almighty when I was listening to "Right to rise". Wilson plays hardrock - but not the polished mainstream version. These guys add a punch to their music and kick-ass. This punky hardrock is better than any energy drink.

The five-piece from Detroit recorded twelve songs that found their spot on the new longplayer. They prove the Detroit is really a 'rock city'. "Right to rise" is the second full-length album of the guys, loaded with dirty rock'n'roll. -Markus' Heavy Music Blog
