The Unchained & MusiCounts

Hey there folks.  I am doing a little bit of a special shout out today for some truly great musicians here in Toronto, ON.  As you have seen in the past, I have been following and involved with friends of mine in The Unchained dating back to days when they were promoting themselves as Easy Sleezy.  We've had some great interviews, lots of good times discussing music, and even had the opportunity to take a stab at some vocals with them in a demo song (wasn't a fan of the singing tracks myself but screams of course sounded beautiful).  So after seeing them countless times, buying the merch, and getting friends to come check out their stuff, I wanted to showcase a concert they are throwing tonight and the philanthropy behind it.

The Unchained & MusiCounts have teamed up to provide exposure to both their causes.  Since their collaboration, The Unchained have created and released numerous songs that directly benefit the MusiCounts campaign, to which the band (and their fans) donated well over $500 to their cause and counting.  These songs that have been released feature other prominent Toronto bands such as Bryan Fontez (Last Bullet) and Tim Shaw (Fallen Heirs).

So what is MusiCounts?  Check out the description from their website.

"MusiCounts, Canada’s music education charity associated with The Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (CARAS), is helping to keep music alive in schools across Canada. MusiCounts’ mission is to ensure that children in Canada, regardless of socio-economic circumstances or cultural background, have access to a music program through their school. MusiCounts includes Band Aid musical instrument grants, the MusiCounts Teacher of the Year Award, Scholarships, and other music education initiatives."

Not a bad idea right?  Giving ALL kids an equal chance to participate in music?  I wish something like this was available when I was growing up looking for some music inspiration.  On February 5th, 2015 (aka TONIGHT), The Unchained and MusiCounts will be taking their working relationship to another level.  If you got an extra $10 in your pocket and a burning sensation to check out some amazing rock n roll, then it's best you head to the Phoenix Concert Hall where The Unchained will be playing alongside Say Yes, and Affinity for an awareness and promotion show.  Once again, this is in collaboration with MusiCounts.  So the videos in this article will give you an indication of what to expect at the show.  Hope to see you all there!

Oh, did I forget to mention there are some kick ass prizes to be won this evening as well?  As The Unchained put it...

"There will also be incredible bands all night and raffle prizes including a Boss JS-10 eBand pedal, Sennheiser Studio headphones and a brand new guitar that is signed by selected Canadian musicians!!!! This is a one of a kind prize not to be missed. Make sure you pickup raffle tickets when you get through the door!" -The Unchained

So if the music didn't already seal the deal for attending this show, the prizes are sure to catch your attention.  Here is also some details for the show this evening.  Cheers!
