Music News and New Music For August 27th, 2013...

So of course, when running your own blog solo it can be tough to keep up with the s**tload of stuff that comes across our ears over a weekend!  Some good, some bad, some not even worth mentioning.  I guess that's how I use AFGM in general.  These articles that I go through everyday from various sites (Blabbermouth,. CBC, National Post, AV Club, Exclaim, Music News, Rolling Stone, etc.) and sort of "filter" some of the nonsense news such as the latest fashion design, who's got beef with who and who ISN'T doing music...still.

These articles brought forth are for a few different reasons:

1. It is relevant music information that pertains to you as a reader, no matter the level of intent or the genre.

2. They are relevant to the music I would be currently listening to or a genre I have put some attention and focus on.

3. I am somewhat patriotic about my Canadian music, so that always comes as a first for me.  I enjoy music from all parts of the world respectively, but I still have to promote local if I can.  Canadian music rocks!

4. Because it's humourous and we can ALWAYS use a good laugh.  Rarely will it be at someone's expense...but then again I am just the guy talking about it.  They're the ones causing the comments.

So in closing, I trust you all will not read EVERY single article posted here.  But I hope you find something of use here and keep the conversation going by forwarding it onto someone else.  Click on each article heading for redirection to the full article.  Cheers!

KILL DEVIL HILL SIGN WITH CENTURY MEDIA RECORDS. NEW ALBUM THIS FALL:

“It’s a real pleasure being on a label that feels like home!  Since day one with CENTURY MEDIA, it’s been great knowing that they have the same mutual beliefs and goals that we do – to keep hard rock and metal alive and kicking, and to bring our music to as many fans as we can! These guys have the best track record around when it comes to hard rock and metal music, and it’s great to know that we’re on the same page and striving for the same things!” -Rex Brown

Love and Death - "Meltdown" Music Video:

Orgy Seek To Crowdfund $100,000 For New Releases, Label & Touring:

“The music industry today is very different from what the music industry was, what used to be a thriving industry of large labels has now dwindled down to just a few and has made it extremely difficult to be successfull. As much of a dissapointment this is, it has also opened a door for us to start a brand new label, and with your help, we can achieve ground breaking results with not just Orgy, but giving other bands an opportunity and chance in the industry with us.

Without a major label backing and funding us it makes it very difficult and expensive to record, produce and distribute our music to the fans. Once we do that we need to hit the road and tour, not just nationaly, but internationaly as well (can you believe we have never toured Europe or Japan?). Essentially we want you guys, the fans, to help get the new band and label off the ground, that way we can maintain creative freedom and do what WE want to do and not what another label tells us to do.

We have been funding Orgy from our own pockets and have reached a point where we have taken it as far as we possibly can by ourselves, and the wells run dry. This is where we need your help, without proper backing we are unable to bring our music to the fans, so we are asking everyone to come together and back us, be our supporters, and enable us to bring our music and other artists to you and the rest of the world.

The impact from what could come from this is enormous. With your support and backing we can launch Orgy into a national and international name once again. We have more dedication and drive to make this a success than ever before, not only with the music but with the label as well.

This will give new bands the opportunity to be heard and succeed as well as Orgy. We just simply can’t continue out of our pockets anymore and going after a major label just isn’t the right path for us. We ask that you be a part of something new, something big, help revive Orgy and help bring new music to the world.” -Orgy

AMARANTHE's ELIZE, JAKE Talk Vocal Technique With 8747 PRODUCTIONS:

In Tribute: The Complete, Untold Story of Slayer's Jeff Hanneman:

He influenced a generation and changed the course of metal forever. Guitar World presents the complete, untold story of Jeff Hanneman, Slayer’s guitarist for more than 30 years and the man behind such legendary thrash anthems as “Angel of Death,” “South of Heaven” and “War Ensemble.”

Guitarist Doc Coyle Posts His ‘Memoriam’ For God Forbid:

“I look back at that time, and recall it as a constant grapple with inadequacy. I remember having a manager, who also managed Thursday and Shadows Fall at the time, explain to us all of the opportunities that were closed off to us because we were too heavy or jarring musically. I remember Century Media Germany and the European market not really “getting” Determination.

I remember not being able to draw flies on headlining tours with bands like Bleeding Through, Avenged Sevenfold, and Trivium opening up, and being flummoxed as to why it wasn’t connecting. I remember watching 1,000 people walk out the door before our set at a local headlining show at the Birch Hill Nite Club when Thursday, Glassjaw, and Diecast opening in 2001. I remember physically watching the entire crowd leave our set at Hellfest 2003, to go watch Howard Jone’s first gig with Killswitch Engage.

I’m not sure if I was naturally insecure, or if I was just reacting appropriately to disappointing events. With that said, these developments shaped our perspective and collective insecurity. That’s part of the reason we had a chip on our shoulder that would never really go away.” -Coyle

Korn’s New Song “Love And Meth” Lands Online:

JUDAS PRIEST Completes Writing New Album:

"The writing process is complete.  Now it's the painstaking work of making sure that you get every single note, every single nuance of the vocal, every tiny aspect...right. We're still tracking (instruments). It's just a very laborious but enjoyable part of making the record.

[It's] hard. It's heavy. It's something we think our PRIEST fans will be thrilled with. We know we have a reputation to maintain, and we know we have to deliver something really strong and solid. The album is going to be full of all the great things you love about JUDAS PRIEST — I don't think I can say anything more than that without being hung, drawn and quartered." -Halford
