New Music: Spineshank, Shadows Fall, Mark Tremonti & Cypress Hill/Rusko

Spineshank has got a new album coming out, for those that are not aware.  Main man Jonny Santos reformed the group not too long ago and composed some new material, which was released on June 19th via Century Media Records.  You can check out their new single "Nothing Left For Me" (music video below...keep scrolling):

Spineshank is:

Jonny Santos – vocals (1996–2004, 2008–Present)
Mike Sarkisyan – guitar (1996–Present)
Robert Garcia – bass, background vocals (1997–Present)
Tom Decker – drums, keyboards (1996–Present)

"It was very important to us, as artists, to make this record. We felt like we had something to say as a band." Their message was urgent and unambiguous, a sonic exorcism of sorts. "Some of us were going through divorces, others lost people very close to them and that's what basically surrounded us during the creative process." -Mike Sarkisyan

"Anger, Denial, Acceptance":

1. After The End
2. Nothing Left For Me
3. Anger Denial Acceptance
4. I Want You To Know
5. Murder Suicide
6. The Endless Disconnect
7. I Am Damage
8. Ploratio Morbus
9. Everything Everyone Everywhere Ends
10. The Reckoning
11. God Complex (Anger)
12. Motive Method Opportunity (Denial)
12. Exit Wounds (Acceptance)

"The recording process was a lot different this time. It was the first record where we didn't have an outside producer come in, we did it completely on our own. We also did it in different sessions. We'd write three or four songs and then go record them. Write three or four more and record them in a different studio. We actually took our Pro Tools rig to a cabin in Big Bear and did a lot of the vocals there. We were totally isolated from the outside world; we were able to fully focus and concentrate on the songs. It was a really cool way to record." -Tom Decker

And just to add some more zest to the article today, check out Spineshank's debut music video (aka "Nothing Left For Me)" from the new album:

The new Shadows Fall album is going to be my gem of 2012.  As much as I have been excited to see new albums come out for many different artists, these guys struck a good chord when I saw them open for Avenged Sevenfold a few years back (Dec. 17th, 2008 @ Sound Academy w/ A7X and Burn Halo).  I never really thought much about SF until I walked through the doors as they opened with "The Light That Blinds".  It was all over from there (I was even contemplating shouting out the words 'A7X got owned').  They put on such a great performance between Brian Fair and Jonathan Donais, I was definitely impressed.  I also got to give credit to their sound guy for the night.  He made them extremely crisp and distinctive.  Anyways, enough with the blast from the past.  Check out the new music video for the debut track "The Unknown":

Brian Fair – lead vocals (1999–present)
Matt Bachand – rhythm guitar, vocals (1995–present)
Jonathan Donais – lead guitar, backing vocals (1995–present)
Paul Romanko – bass guitar (1997–present)
Jason Bittner – drums (2002–present)

1. The Unknown
2. Divide and Conquer
3. Weight of the World
4. Nothing Remains
5. Fire From the Sky
6. Save Your Soul
7. Blind Faith
8. Lost Within
9. Walk the Edge
10. The Wasteland

The album is due to be released on May 15, 2012 via Razor & Tie Records

Mark Tremonti has wasted no time in getting his name out as a solo artist now.  After a very successful three album trek with Alter Bridge (and yes, more on the way) and the return of legendary hard rockers Creed, Mark has had time to focus his energy and time on some solo material, which is rumored to be his heaviest material yet.  Anyways, I'll let you be the judge and check out one of the tracks below, "You Waste Your Time":

Mark Tremonti – lead vocals, lead guitar
Eric Friedman – rhythm guitar, bass, backing vocals
Garrett Whitlock – drums
Brian Marshall - bass (touring ONLY)

1. Leave It Alone
2. So You're Afraid
3. Wish You Well
4. Brains
5. The Things I've Seen
6. You Waste Your Time
7. New Way Out
8. Giving Up
9. Proof
10. All I Was
11. Doesn't Matter
12. Decay

(All lyrics written by Mark Tremonti, all music composed by Mark Tremonti, Eric Friedman, and Garrett Whitlock.)

I just wanted to add this because the first collaboration was sooo bad ass.  Don't care how much of a metal head you are, you got to give it up for Cypress Hill.  These guys have teamed up with dub-step DJ Rusko for a 5 track EP that is set to drop on June 4th (digitally) and July 16th (physically).

The video for 'Lez Go' was released via their 'Tweet to Fill The Bong' contest in which Cypress Hill and Rusko let the fans dictate the release date by spreading the word on Twitter. 'Lez Go' features performance footage from their 2012 SmokeOut performance, which included special guest Travis Barker on the drums.
