Firewind: Few Against Many

So yeah, I don't know about you guys and gals but I am very much looking forward to the upcoming release of the new Firewind album "Few Against Many".  I was uber impressed with their previous album (Days of Defiance) and have been patiently waiting for Gus to take a breather from Ozzy and get back to shredding for FW!  Now mind you, I never really discovered Firewind till their forth album "Allegiance" (circa 2006), but since then [I feel] their albums have become stronger and the song structures have been very consistent.  For those who are not very familiar with the five piece from Greece, check out the band lineup and bio below:

Firewind (2012) is:

Bob Katsionis - Keyboards, Guitar | Apollo Papathanasio - Vocals | Gus G. - Guitar | Petros Christo - Bass | Jo Nunez - Drums

"Greek melodic metal sensation FIREWIND surrounding guitar talent/main man Gus G. (Ozzy Osbourne, ex-Arch Enemy, ex-Dream Evil) have had a fantastic year 2008, which will culminate in an extensive European headlining tour and the release of the band’s first ever DVD / live album entitled “Live Premonition”.

The main show of this DVD was recorded during the live premiere of FIREWIND’s most recent effort “The Premonition” on January 12, 2008 at the Principal Theater in the band’s hometown Thessaloniki. The countless fans at the show proved to be a highly supportive, enthusiastic crowd which once again underlined the legendary reputation of Greece’ passionate metal community. Also many international guests were present and simply overwhelmed by the intense atmosphere and FIREWIND’s stunning new material as the band performed the entire “The Premonition” album live for the first time while adding loads of older classics mounting in an impressive 100 minutes long set. The touring campaign for “The Premonition” kicked off with a successful European tour as support of Kamelot in April/May 2008, followed by the “Tyranny and Bloodshred” US tour alongside Arch Enemy, Dark Tranquillity, Divine Heresy in May/June. The summer months consisted of triumphant festival gigs (Download, Graspop, Bang Your Head…) whereas in autumn/winter FIREWIND invite you all to witness them on their own headlining tour through UK/Ireland (September) and Europe (November/December) – there is no doubt: the FIREWIND is as hot as hell and ready to set you all afire!

In 2009, FIREWIND are already confirmed to play Rock Hard Festival at Gelsenkirchen (Germany) and if you look back on all the exciting events that followed in the wake of “The Premonition”, you can bet your last buck that the quintet is destined to continue its success story next year. Until then, this professionally filmed and sound-wise brilliant DVD offers you an excellent opportunity to experience the rise of this sensational act, features vast bonus features (Promo videos, a special acoustic set, a road movie and a bonus show filmed in Canada) and is probably the best way to raise your anticipation for more live gigs by FIREWIND, enjoy!

FIREWIND completed their "Live Premonition World Tour" in August 2009, a tour that consisted of no less than 107 shows and took them thru 23 countries!!"

You can also check out (below) the first music video from the new album.  The track chosen was their single "Wall of Sound".

"We wanted to do a different video this time, instead of the usual indoor studio shootings. So we figured we'd show the band in its comfort zone — on stage. The clip was shot on our most recent shows in Greece this past January and you can witness the mayhem that goes down when we play in our home country! Enjoy!"
-Gus G.
