Well as luck would have it, a comment from a reader prompted me to go back to my Soul Embraced article and see what's been happening in their camp. I knew for some time now that the group had a new album in work dubbed "Mythos", but with little or no information behind the album. And then the social media posts and Kickstarter campaigns started...
I just want to apologize for the delay on the record we have had other projects going and rocky has also been recording and mixing alot of bands as well as playing shows with his other band machina we appreciate all the support all of u guys give us i expect a summer release were wrapping it up as we speak i guarantee it will be worth the wait again thank u guys for hanging in there GOD Bless. -Soul Embraced
So now that there was some chatter about the delay of the album, that meant good signs towards a push to the finish line. Soon enough, small bits and pieces of the album started to surface. Track listings, album artwork and a new ink deal to Rottweiler Records all showed signed towards a release very soon. Unfortunately the date of the album has not been set, but as you can see from the comment below the date has been finally made to July 9th, 2013! Woo hoo!
1. They Live, We Sleep
2. Awaken the Catalyst
3. Transhuman
4. Like a Corpse
5. Luciferian Alliance
6. Perversion of the Cross
7. Heartbroken Reaper
8. Counterfeit Gospel
9. The Invocation
According to the label, the band has a couple guest appearances slated for the album as well. Check out the post from Rottweiler Records.
Not only is the Soul Embraced "Mythos" album complete, but the wait has been worth it! We are announcing the special guests now!!
Bruce Fitzhugh of Living Sacrifice is on “Transhuman”
Jeremiah Scott of Demon Hunter is on "Heartbroken Reaper"
Chris Hull of Every Knee Shall Bow is on “Luciferian Alliance”
We are very excited to have these amazing individuals add their talents to Soul Embraced's "Mythos" release!! -Rottweiler Records
Soul Embraced is:
Rocky Gray - Drums | Chad Moore - Vocals | Jon Dunn - Bass | Cody Smith - Guitars
So keeping with the plethora of info the band has released over the last few months, "Mythos" has already seen it's first review, even without a release date. Author J. Rife had the chance to give the album a spin and make some comments on individual songs.
Today's a good day to be a Kickstarter for the new Soul Embraced album, Mythos, coming to Rottweiler Records! As a recipient of the digital pre-release, I couldn't be more excited about the surprise that came our way today.
1 - They Live We Sleep - This song is a taste of what the rest of the album has in store but can't say it sets the pace because believe it or not, there's even more metallic brutality woven throughout this album.
2 - Awake the Catalyst - And if by this time you don't have your seatbelt on, well, it's too late! This slams through pounding riffs with a few melodic guitar parts woven in and I stress "a few" because up until near the very end, the records hardly slows to allow you to catch your breath.
3 - Transhuman - An instant favorite especially with some of us older headbangers who can really appreciate the guest vocals on this track. What makes this extra special is that he just doesn't sing his part and leave, this longtime metal vocalist does what he does best for more than just one verse or one chorus. Oh, and just when you think it's over... it's not, it just builds right back up again.
4 - Like a Corpse - Most of us have gotten a taste of this song in recent months so by now, you know it's a perfect fit on this album and a good representation of what we could expect.
5 - Luciferian Alliance - Woah! Where did this song come from. I mean, there's no messing around. All the elements that make Soul Embraced one of the best metal bands in the world slap you across the face in the first few seconds of this track. No messin' around here.
6 - Perversion of the Cross - The intensity of the last track has not ended on this one. Another thrasher just adding to the Soul Embraced experience (and a great one so far!).
7 - Heartbroken Reaper - OK, just stop right here. This is my favorite track on the album. Starting off with some insanity on the drum kit, this song is an orchestra of ripping and blasting. And then it happens... Some of the sickest riffs you've ever heard where a long time headbanger like myself can reflect back to the innovative riffs of Believer's and Living Sacrifice's early days that make your ears wonder in disbelief if they just heard what happened. I honestly wanted to hit my "repeat" button but the only thing that kept from listening to this song a second consecutive time is the knowledge that more good stuff remained to be heard on that first listen.
8 - Counterfeit Gospel - The Soul Embraced fellas are still giving it there all into this one. Just as impressive as all the other songs on the album and a reminder the wait for this project has definitely been "worth it".
9 - The Invocation - OK, you can unbuckle your seatbelt now but just because things have slowed down a bit, you're not off the hook yet. This hauntingly beautiful piece calls to mind the Cthulian imagery gracing the cover of this project and lets the listener gently down thus completing the Mythos experience.
Over all, this is a GREAT album from a GREAT band. My thanks to Soul Embraced for working through this to bring a great piece of art to your fans. And speaking of fans, many thanks to Shawn Browning who understands what it means to be a fan and brought this to the Kickstarters the moment he could!
I have been careful NOT to compare this to any other Soul Embraced album because if you go back through each one, you'll hear a distinction between every CD. They don't repeat themselves. Their music does not get old and the keep "bringing it" with each project. I hope for much more from Soul Embraced. They're one of those bands that gets it right every time!

So hopefully a date will be released soon. I have been eagerly waiting a new Soul Embraced album for some years now and regardless of the over saturated genre they have found themselves in, I am feeling the band will do just fine with tour support and album promotion. They did a great run with Solid State Records and will see the same result from Rottweiler.
This is Soul Embraced's sixth release and promises to be their most brutal!
After 10 years and 5 releases, Little Rock, AR based American Christian death metal band, Soul Embraced parted ways amicably with Solid State Records. Rottweiler Records is to release their new record "Mythos" next year.
This particular Soul Embraced release sees the band in 100% artistic control over art, music, and production. Rocky Gray has stated that "Mythos" WILL BE Soul Embraced's MOST BRUTAL ALBUM YET! -Rottweiler Records
I'm confident that the album hold up to the reputation. Cheers!
July 9th is the official street date.
