So What Is Happening Oct. 5 In The World of Music?

I got a slew of posts and articles from various news feeds about what is happening today.  Most of it seems very promising and upbeat.  Anyways, here is what is making [AFGM] headlines:

The Pet Shop Boys have entered the studio once again to start working on their 11th studio album of their career.
"We've been in the studio for the last few weeks continuing to write songs for our next album. So far this year we've written 16 new songs. I think we'll start recording the album in November for release next year." -Neil

Female vocalist Adele has had to cancel her entire North American tour due to (once again) vocal issues.  Doctors have informed the 23 year old singer that she is suffering from a  vocal chord hemorrhage.

"Singing is literally my life. It's my hobby, my love, my freedom and now my job, I have absolutely no choice but to recuperate properly and fully or I risk damaging my voice forever.  I will be back and I'm gonna smash the ball out the park once I’m touring again." -Adele

Alien Ant Farm have decided to come out of hiding and setting the stage for their upcoming album release, set for early 2012.

“We are pretty excited for the year to come.  We just came off of a three-month tour in the U.S. that made us realize that with the original line-up back together, we have fire and hunger again. That being said, we can hardly wait to hit the studio and start putting a new record together. We’ve been writing on and off for the past year and have a really good pile of new material. Basically the goal is to write another pile. With a fresh new collection, we hope to get our core fans excited, as well as turn some brand new listeners on to the Alien Ant Farm sound and show the world we have a lot more to offer than the average rock band.” -Terry Corso (guitars)

Fan of Apocalyptica will be happy to know the band is now setting to release a photo book, with photos from across 50 different countries during the span of their 7th Symphony tour.  The band wanted to offer fans an in depth look of how touring schedules work and the fans and venues they have played at over the years.

"You as our fans have always been supportive and now we want to share the process of making this book with you. With every single 'pledge,' you not only support the book's release, but also help raising money for a good cause. In our case, you are supporting the Florence Home Foundation, an organization that takes care of projects for women and children in India's poorest regions. In addition, you'll receive an eBook with images that didn't make it to the printed version and secure the chance of getting special merchandise, signed memorabilia and exclusive bonus material. And we dug deep to find interesting stuff for you.  Thanks a lot for your support; we hope you'll like the book as much as we do!” - Apocalyptica

Maiden fans will be happy to know that the band has decided to launch their very own mobile app, for FREE!  Only downside is that it is only available for iPhone/iPad users.  When will they learn they need to open it for Android and BB as well if they want to market it correctly.

This way, fans of IM get the inside scoop on everything going on with the band and upcoming tours/albums/goodies/etc.

Todd Kerns, bassist for Slash's solo, has given some insight into the process and development of the new Slash album.

"So now here I am. Back on Planet Slash. Back when I was originally asked to support him on his first solo tour I wasn’t sure if it would be a month or maybe fly outs on weekends or what. Now here we are a year and a half later and we’re getting ready to record a new CD as a band. Did not see that coming.

We have been working on riffs for a while since we were on the road even. Those riffs have ballooned to almost 20 songs and growing. We have been hard at it in several writing sessions and are now in the midst of two weeks rehearsal. We’ll be entering Barefoot Studios with Eric Valentine in a few days to start work on the first few songs. We’ll finish up the record before the end of the year.  Eric has produced a lot of amazing stuff including Slash’s last record. We’ll be in the very studio where one of my favorite albums ever was recorded - Songs For The Deaf by QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE (produced by Eric Valentine). It promises to be very exciting. I’m stoked!"

So overall, a great selection of music news happening today.  Not that I mean to sideline the heavy stuff by any means, but AFGM tries its best to keep the variety of music going.  Who knows, maybe AFGM can convert a few of you to other genres. haha

Check the AFGM Facebook site as well for other articles that didn't make the cut this morning or that were posted later today.  Cheers!
