Music News of October 6, 2011...

Since I seem to be getting quite the amount of feedback from these quick news feeds, here is what has been making [AFGM] headlines:

Call it what you will, but I think this is worthy of music news.  Assuming everyone across the world has heard, the media innovator Steve Jobs (ex-CEO of Apple) has passed away at age 56.  While this man was not a musician, he was a major contribution to the media and music world.  Products designed by him such as iPods, iPads and iMacs have revolutionized the way we create, listen and distribute music.  The man may not have been a fan by everyone, but he surely made an impact in the way we live.  Cheers to you Mr. Jobs

I never thought I would see the day, but Snoop Dogg has finally went mainstream to the max!  The rapper has signed a deal with NBC for the launch of his own sitcom.  Not much more I can shed on this because it's really, really weird to me.  Gotta love the hat though (above).

You can read more about the deal here.

P.O.D. can breathe a little easier as of late.  The rap-rock 4-piece have announced their ink deal with Razor & Tie Records and a new album in the works.  Both Razor & Tie, as well as lead vocalist Sonny Sandoval have shed some light on the new deal:
“Razor & Tie is thrilled to announce the addition of the Grammy-nominated, multi-platinum American Christian metal band P.O.D. (Payable on Death) to its label roster. P.O.D. joins Razor & Tie for an exclusive, multi-album, worldwide deal.  The new, yet-to-be titled album will see the band reunited with long-time Producer Howard Benson who also produced the band’s massive Satellite album alongside major hit albums for 3 Doors Down, Kelly Clarkson, Theory Of A Deadman, Daughtry, All American Rejects, and My Chemical Romance. The new P.O.D. studio album is expected for release in spring of 2012." R&T Press Release

“We are really excited to be starting a new chapter of our career with Razor & Tie. We just can’t wait to put out the new album and show everyone what we’ve worked so hard on.” -Sonny Sandoval.
