Whats Happening In The Music World on Oct. 13th?

Hey there everyone!  Here is what's been making [AFGM] headlines:

Korn has dropped a new single on us for their upcoming album titled "Narcissistic Cannibal", off of their upcoming album "Path of Totality".  The album is set to be released December 6th via Roadrunner Records.  The Soundcloud link can be found here.

Rage Against The Machine guitarist and noted activist Tom Morello will be taking part in the ongoing "Occupy Wall Street" protests at noon in New York, at Liberty Plaza/Zuccotti Park.  The Nightwatchman will be performing an acoustic set for the masses on protest, similar to the acoustic performance he did last weekend in Los Angeles.

Morello has explained (a while back) the origin of The Nightwatchmen project.  It started when he began performing his protest songs in coffeehouses. "I would sign up anonymously, you know," he said. "I didn't want to sign up as Tom Morello and have people, you know, between their mochaccinos clamoring for 'Bulls On Parade'. So I signed up as The Nightwatchmen, and it was a moniker that seemed to fit the music that I was writing and playing, and it stuck."

For those unaware, here is the link to Occupy Wall Street.

Not much information on this matter, but Everytime I Die's bassist Josh Newton has decided to hang up the bass strings and part ways with his band mates.  No word on a replacement for ETID.

The band has tweeted the following:

“the last 3 weeks have been the most grueling tour we’ve ever done and we have cherished every second. Rock In Peace @jnewton we love you.”

Unfortunately, the music world has suffered another great loss.  Long time drum teacher (and very well respected influence into the music world) Freddie Gruber passed away on Tuesday, October 11.  He was 84 years young.

He taught many drum heavyweights such as Neil Peart (who talked a great deal about studying under Freddie in the August issue of Rhythm), Dave Weckl, Steve Smith and Vinnie Colaiuta.  He will be greatly missed.
