So the flavour of the hour is Spineshank. Why? Because these guy dropped off the face of the earth a few years ago (1996-2008) and have made a triumphant return with a new single titled "Murder Suicide", not to mention these were one of the first bands I was introduced to when entering the metal lifestyle. The premiere of this song can be found via Noisecreep.
Just to give you a run down (to those not aware of these guys), Spineshank is:
Jonny Santos | Mike Sarkisyan | Robert Garcia | Tommy Decker
The band was originally signed to Roadrunner Records for the release of their albums "Strictly Diesel",
"The Height of Callousness" and "Self Destructive Pattern". Due to musical differences and projects, the group split up indefinitely. Lead vocalist Jonny Santos, went on to create (and still active) Silent Civilian. Other members continued on without Santos, in hopes of finding a replacement for Santos.
At the end of it all, Santos reunited with Spineshank to deliver some wonderful metal music to your ears once again. Since the release of their first single in over 3-4 years, drummer Tom Decker shed some insight into the making of their latest album (no name given, no release date as of yet):
"First of all, you don't have to worry about us abandoning our sound; there will be plenty of electronics/loops/synths on this record. Jonny is also singing better than he ever has, so there will be a ton of singing and melody as well. This will definitely be heavier than our previous albums but it will not be all bashing. I can wholeheartedly promise you that we will not be trying to be anything we are not. This is simply going to be Spineshank five years later. There will be a few new elements but it will be undeniably us (for better or worse!!!). . . So far, the new songs have shown a significant evolution in the band's music, shifting from industrial metal to a music that mixes alternative metal with elements of metalcore and electronica."
And as always, we need some tunes on here to make this article more enjoyable than just reading. So......
