Music News for October 26, 2011

The Smith's originator Morrisey has been granted a trial in his recent lawsuit filed against NME for defamation of character in a 2007 interview.  The article gave the portrayal that he was a racist and a xenophobic.  The trial is set to begin in 2012

"Overall, in my judgment a proper balance between the Article 10 right of freedom of expression of [NME magazine] and Mr. Morrissey's right to the protection of his individual reputation requires, in the circumstances of this case, that the action be permitted to proceed." -Mr. Justice Tugendhat (Britain's most senior libel judge)

The Sorrow have been hard at work with new material for the upcoming album (tentatively due in 2012 but no details yet) and their recent ink deal with Napalm Records.  Seen below is some pro-ish shot footage of their hit single, "Crossing Jordan", from their performance in Vienna, Austria on September 9th, 2011:

Rolling Stone Magazine released a great article titled "The New Economics of the Music Industry: How artists really make money in the cloud – or don't".

Basically it outlines how musicians are making money nowadays with digital media and old school vinyl, CDs, etc.  You can read the full article here.
