Just like my hometown Toronto Blue Jays, it's going to be quite the downfall if they (aka the metal industry) don't live up to their expectations. Metal never went away in order for it to make a comeback, it just came out of the underground.
With labels constantly signing new bands, dropping old ones, social media as an outlet and genre's splitting off to make new sub-genres on an almost monthly basis, I'm not sure how 2013 is going to be THAT MUCH MORE than the year prior to.
What is the 'x-factor' that metal has this year among others? Or is this an empty assumption with the industry getting their hopes up? You folks ARE the industry so what do you think? Is the Times in the right here or do you feel that increased media and tour exposure will determine that 2013 will be the "year of metal"?
